a shared dream

"I have a dream that my four little children will will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character...

... and little black boys and black girls will he able to join hands with little white boy's and white girls as sisters and brothers."

Martin Luther King, Jr., 1963, Speech at the March on Washington

in the brown of Winter

It's Winter.
As in, the deep, dark...brown, Winter season.
When the snow has melted away and the yard is a sodden, muddy mess.
And the next snow is yet to come and cover it all away again.

We are inside a bit more, and pushed to our limits to stay creative and keep the cranky away. Some days we (I) fail and some days we win.

Books, Keva planks, and the unlikely combination of cranberries and toothpicks have been the saving sanity of the week.

there's magic in this snow globe world

The first snow of the year.

Six glorious inches of pure frozen slow down.

An invitation to take some deep breaths, watch your husband transform into a shiny-eyed ten year old, remember how succinctly satisfying it is to put a puzzle together, wear pajama's all day, and cook up food that warms beyond the stomach.

Forget about the mountains of sweat and snow soaked laundry that's coming.
And, oh, it's coming.
Focus instead on cheeks red from exposure to wind, snow, sun...fun.
