My thoughts today. Hmmm. That is a loaded question. And be prepared for some randomness.
Ezra woke us up earlier this week crying that "the inside of my ear hurts." No other symptoms, which is very unusual for his very long history of ear infections...but, it was the first time he had ever told us his ear hurt. Sure enough, took him to the doctor that morning and the very ear he had said hurt was infected. How bout that. My boy is growing up.
Eli has been sleeping through the night consistently now for almost two weeks. Awesome. We have however, entered into the realm of tantrums. Anywhere from two to ten a day. Not so awesome. I am taking it as a good sign: that he feels comfortable to be his "ugliest" around us and know that we will stick by his side.
Right.
Right?
The boys took turns burping back and forth in the van last night. Lovely.
Jeremiah is taking the kids up to Virginia tonight through Saturday so that I can plan out Ella's kindergarten school year. I can't remember the last time I have been home without the rest of the family. I've left the kids plenty of times...but I have always been the one leaving. Who knows...I might just get a little crazy and sleep in till 8am or something. Maybe stay up past 10pm too.
Eli had his second ct scan this morning as well as his second appointment with our pediatric neurosurgeon. This more detailed scan showed that all his sutures in his brain (the part that allows room for his brain to grow) are open.
Great news.
Praise God.
That means that the shape of his head is purely based on the positioning (or rather the lack of positioning) he had as a baby. It also means that it will not improve with age or get better as he gets older. It hurts my heart to think about what his early months of life must have been like in order to cause his head to be this way.
We are praying everyday for the Lord to intervene and perform a miracle and reshape his head. As far as our next step medically, we are meeting with a cranio-facial plastic surgeon to discuss the option of surgery in order to "correct" his head shape. Obviously, there are a lot of factors and things to discuss and we are praying for wisdom and discernment as we make some hard decisions. Thank you for praying along with us.
A huge big thank you to our friends (Michaella and Allyson) who took care of Ella and Ezra for us so that we could just focus on Eli today. We are so blessed with your friendship. And I fear that Ella will never again have a sleepover live up to the expectations that were permanently raised by Michaella. A trip to the movie theater, popcorn, splash park, and chuck-e-cheese. Yeah. She is ruined forever.
The kids looked oh so pretty (and dapper) this past Sunday that I attempted to take a picture before church (because we all know they don't look like this after church) and this is the best I could come up with. It makes me laugh because Ella had a death grip on Ezra's hand and Eli absolutely refused to smile and instead made the most ridiculous eyore face.
Yeah. They weren't feeling so agreeable. Still looked awfully cute though.
Happy Thursday!
