Yesterday and today were very busy days...by the time we made it back to our guesthouse yesterday it was all I could do to take a shower and climb into bed...much less think about blogging.
Wednesday was pretty much a repeat in schedule of Monday and Tuesday except that we finished up our day by visiting another Haitian church. Jeremiah preached a great message on living a life of conviction, on the story of Sharach, Meshach, and Abednago in Daniel. It was very well received.
Today we headed out of the city to the school and orphanage of Marie Prinvell in the country. I finally saw what people meant when they say that Haiti is a beautiful country. In the city it is hard to see past all the trash and poverty.
We did a number of projects at Marie's...built school desks, made over 10 loaves worth of peanut butter sandwhiches for the local children, handed out over a hundred bags worth of rice and beans for the local feeding program, painted school tables, and of course...played with the children!
Tonight we headed to the Rooftop Baptist Church. It is a Haitian church held on a rooftop that sits at the bottom of where two sides of a mountain meet. The entire sides of the moutain are covered in house on top of house on top of house. What is special about this church is that the entire mountainside of people hear the services...so when Jeremiah preached his words echoed up the entire mountain. He preached out of 1 Peter on the difference we are to display in our lives after we have become Christians.
We head home tomorrow...
I am giddy with excitement at the thought of seeing Ella and Ezra!
At the same time I am so sad to leave Haiti.
We have all truly made friends here. The Haitian people are an incredibly gracious people that have captured out hearts.
Continue to pray for us as we travel home. There is a pretty big storm hovering over us right now...and we really would love to make it home tomorrow =)
Thank you all for your prayers this week.
Stay tuned for photo overload next week!
