We went for Ella's four year old check up this week.

Her new barbie went too.

Ella (mostly) loves going to the doctor. Except for shots.

I had a moment of temporary insanity and told Ella about her flu shot two days before her actual appointment earlier this fall.

I don't know why I didn't think through that thought before telling her? I felt like maybe I needed to prepare her.

Never again.

She was like a broken record for two days.

Mommy, is it going to hurt? Mommy, why do I have to? Mommy, is it going to hurt? Mommy, why do I have to?

Two. Whole. Days.

This time, I wasn't sure if she was going to have to get shots...so mum was the word around here.

And, hallelujah.

No shots!

She did, however, get to pee in a cup.

Ha...you should have seen that one! Yes, I had Ezra with me and of course he had to be in the stall too. And you should have heard me trying to answer her questions (and warn her not to attempt this at home).

She is 42" tall which puts her into the 95% in height and she weighs 35lbs which moved her into the 50% for weight.

Pretty good ratio if you ask me.

Is it bad to be jealous of my daughters height?

And Barbie...

Well we don't need to discuss Barbie's ratio's. We all are jealous of that one.

Ella was very interested in the whole blood pressure checker-thingie. Asked a lot of questions. The nurse was very patient and understanding and let Ella listen to the "sound" of her blood.

Ezra and all her animals and barbies are now being screened regularly for high blood pressure.

In conclusion, here are a few things I learned from the four year check up:

1) Don't pre-warn about shots

2) Don't bring along younger brother

3) Give lots of water before the check up (my legs cramped up waiting for her to pee)

4) I'm not sure I would pass the vision test (probably should get that checked out)

5) Don't forget the bag of snacks!

and finally,

6) Be ever so thankful for a healthy and happy little girl!
