Recap: Holy Week

I'm a little late in this as things have been b.u.s.y around here. Better late than never, eh.

Several years ago we decided to dub the week before Easter "Holy Week" around the house. You can read about are previous years experiences here and here and here.

As a follower of Christ and a mommy...I desire to make a big deal out of the importance of this week and try to impress it on my kids. I know I've said this before...but who really cares about Christmas without Easter. Who really cares that Jesus was born if he didn't rise from the dead!

This year, with the kids another year older, it has been awesome to see their understanding deepen. To see them "get it" if you will.

We invested in these two new Bibles to help things "come alive" as we read out of them throughout the week. Great resources that I highly recommend!!!

We included some of our past favorite activities and worked in a few new ones. Here are some photo's of our week:

Creating our cross and tomb garden. The tomb was empty when the kids checked on Sunday!

Re-creating our own "last supper" complete with a jewish sedar and foot washing ceremony. You can read here how we do this. My favorite thing of the week.
Dyeing eggs with the Hambrick cousins, of course!

The Creek's incredibly awesome easter egg hunt!

Silly bunnies. Silly paw-paw.

An outside baptism after an inspiring Easter morning service was the perfect way to end the week!

Looks like you guys had a wonderful Holy Week. Praise the Lord for the baptisms - what an awesome way to celebrate Easter!

Did you get the Jesus Storybook Bible with or without the cd? Is it solid? We were looking into getting that one for our girls as well.

I want that action bible and I love the foot washing ceremony. So beautiful. Thanks for sharing. We kinda blew it this Easter as far as prepping the kids and really immersing in the importance. I am vowing to be more like you next year!
