After several astronomical electric bills this winter I placed a call into our local electric co-op to ask for suggestions on ways we could reduce our bills.I found out that they offer a free energy audit of your home upon request.

This week we had our audit. Basically a gentleman from our electric company came out and looked at our heat/ac units, doors, meters, vents, light bulbs, hot water heater, weather stripping, insulation, etc. and gave advice and tips on ways to be more energy efficient...and reduce our bills.
I learned a lot of useful information specific to our house and lifestyle.
I also learned that they offer a $.50 credit for every CFL lightbulb you change out and that they give out blankets for your hot water heater.
Good stuff to know.
You might want to check with your local electric company and see if they offer a similar program.
