Compassion Weekend

This weekend is Grey Stone's Compassion Weekend.

Every small group, sunday school, and c-group is involved in various community projects throughout the Durham community:

- Basketball Camp for underprivileged students
- Construction on the local Agape House
- Local parks clean-up
- Help at the Crisis Pregnancy Center
- Free car wash for Duke commuters
- Thank you letters being written and delivered to Durham's police force and fire and rescue workers.

In addition, we are taking up a special compassion offering on Sunday that will be split between our own local Second Mile ministry and to help build an orphanage in Haiti. The Haiti project is one that is very dear to our hearts as Jeremiah is leading up (and I will be going too) the team going to Haiti this August.

I once read a quote that really made me stop and think:

"If your church were to just disappear one day...would the community even notice?"

The church is made up of believers who are called to be the hands and feet of the Lord...providing help and hope to those around them.

In a day and age where it is easy to focus on all that the church is doing wrong...

I am proud
to be a part of a community of believers at Grey Stone that is making an impact on their community.
